Advancing with MOREOB (AwM)
Goals
- Promote a common knowledge base
- Embed safety practices
- Foster effective problem solving
AwM will help expand and enhance problem solving skills.
Core Content
Through AwM the unit continues to stay up-to-date on the core content from the MOREOB program to maintain a vehicle for a common, up-to-date and consistent knowledge base. This will allow caregivers to maintain the foundation they have developed in the past three years. It will also provide an avenue to maintain a smooth transition for new staff and physicians joining the team, helping to facilitate a standard orientation process for all staff.
Embedding
The safety practices and skills taught in MOREOB are embedded in the running of the unit; moving the unit towards becoming a High Reliability Organization (HRO) unit. It is also a process enabling individuals to begin to take on leadership roles and responsibilities, benefitting the team as a whole.
Problem Solving
Problem solving is a way to allow the Core Team to continue to lead by example in an interprofessional manner. This will help expand and enhance problem-solving skills to address specific patient safety concerns on the unit, leading to positive clinical and organizational outcomes.
Moving Forward
Every hospital operates differently with its own specific set of strengths and weaknesses. Once the basic skills have been learned with MOREOB, it is important to look at each hospital individually to determine their needs and areas for improvement as they go forward with AwM.
