Eastern Health, Newfoundland—New maternal care program at Eastern Health could   result in fewer cesarean sections.  In the 10 years since it’s been in practice across country, the MOREOB Program has proved to result in a marked decrease in the number of Cesarean sections. In 2010-2011, 3035 babies were born at Eastern Health facilities. Thirty-two percent of those births were via C-section. St. John’s has the lowest rate, at 31 per cent while Clarenville has the highest rate of C-sections at 42.5 per cent.
